Bakki Shower Recommended Pond Size & Flow Rates

On these system's we recommend 3 boxes of BHM media and a flow rate of a minimum of 1,500 gallons per hour which will suit a Koi pond of 1000 gallons. But if the system is full with 5 boxes of media we recommend a minimum flow rate of 3,000 gallons per hour which will suit a pond size of 2,000 gallons. We also recommend that you use a mechanical filter before the Bakki shower for best results.

Single

On these system's we recommend 5 boxes of BHM media and a flow rate of a minimum of 3,000 gallons per hour which will suit a Koi pond of 2,500 gallons. But if the system is full with 8 boxes of media we recommend a minimum flow rate of 5,000 gallons per hour which will suit a pond size of 4,000 gallons. We also recommend that you use a mechanical filter before the Bakki shower for best results.

Double

On these system's we recommend 10 boxes of BHM media and a flow rate of a minimum of 5,000 gallons per hour which will suit a Koi pond of 4000 gallons. But if the system is full with 16 boxes of media we recommend a minimum flow rate of 8,000 gallons per hour which will suit a pond size of 8,000 gallons. We also recommend that you use a mechanical filter before the Bakki shower for best results.

We feel that the system will work better with more flow than stated but the flows and size of ponds are worked out on a minimum and can filter larger ponds with more flow rates and again it is all down to stocking levels of the pond along with what pre filters you are using.

If you want to run a Bakki Shower System to the maximum or optimum then we recommend based on a single system with 8 boxes of BHM with a flow rate of 7,000 to every 2,000 gallons of pond water you will achieve great results in growing & developing Koi to there utmost potential, this is how all our systems are running but with the high turn over rates, comes higher running cost and may not suit every one.
